Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is a 2185.9 mile long footpath stretching from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine. Every Spring, hikers from all over head to Georgia and start walking north, attempting to hike the whole trail in one season. This is called a thru-hike. Only about 25% make it all of the way.

This blog follows our progress as we hike north.

The Ticking Clock

39 days to go until we are on the trail.  I'm sure it will go by fast. We have about 95 meals made plus three different soups.  Probably have enough dehydrated ingredients left without having to make more.  Bought 20 pre-paid mailing boxes to ship food and gear to ourselves over the next six months.  I still have a wind-jacket to make for Wander, and apparently I don't have enough to do because I ordered two Minima Vest kits to make at the last minute.  A March start has me concerned about having enough cold weather clothes.  Or perhaps thinking too much.

Some assembly required.
